The Sportsmen offers an open air handgun range with multiple stations. A covered 100 yard Small Bore and Bench Rest Range, and a 500 yard rifle NRA High Power range with target pits.

2008 High Power Match
Dates:
April 27, May 4, June 1, July 6, Sept 7, Oct 5
Time: Registration begins at 7:30 AM, Matches begin at 9:00AM
Location and directions:
SAG 500 yard High Power range. The range is located off Greensburg, Mt. Pleasant
Rd. ½ mile north of Norvelt
near the Westmoreland County fairgrounds. Overnight accommodations are available
in Greensburg and New
Stanton. Overnight camping is permitted at the range by prior arrangement
Fees: Entry fee is $10 per match ($5 for juniors) Challenge fee $1.
Course of Fire:
80 shot Regional Match Course – 200, 300, 500 yards
2 minutes allowed for two sighting shots per position.
Rules:
- All current NRA RULES apply. The decision of the Match Director is final.
- Rifles must comply with NRA rules for service or match rifle caliber 5.56mm
to 7.62mm
- Competitors must be 14 years old.
- Competitors will fire under their current NRA High Power classification.
-All competitors are required to pull targets unless prior arrangements are
made with the Match Director.
-Per new 2007 NRA rules we will be using the new MR65 target for all 500 yard
stages.
*Note that the proper use of Eye and Ear Protection IS REQUIRED while in the
Target Pits. Ear protection is
mandatory and eye protection is currently recommended on the firing line but
this is subject to change and
shooters will be notified of any changes prior to accepting any entries.*
- The Club has two loaner rifles and ammunition available for junior shooters
and first time adult shooters with
preference given to junior aged shooters. Please contact us prior to the match
to ensure availability on match day.
Awards:
Individual matches –Match winner plus one award for every five competitors
in each class down to fourth place.
Special matches:
Fee $5 per shooter
to cover range expenses, no awards. Yet to be determined - shooting these
matches for
classification (F-Class or Mid-Range). The fee will be slightly increased
to cover the NRA fee if you want the score
sent in.
2x500 prone - Any
Rifle\Any Sight\F-Class: May18, June 15, August 17
2 strings of 20 record shots (unlimited sighters), 30 minute time limit per
string.
Practice days: May8,
May 22, June 5, June 26, July 10, July 24
We will have the range
available for Highpower practice sessions on the following week day evenings
5:30pm until
dusk. Session format to be determined. Range fee $3.00:
